As the charitable arm of Commonwealth Sport, we work year-round with our members and partners to support sport and development programmes that tackle barriers within and beyond sport. Our focus is on practical delivery, backing initiatives that promote inclusion, strengthen communities and create pathways into opportunity, particularly for young people, women and girls, and those facing the greatest challenges.
Our approach is grounded in the experiences of the people we support. As Hannah Miley MBE, four-time Commonwealth Games medallist, explains: “The grant support I received from the Commonwealth Sport Foundation allowed me to reach more young people and make education on female health more accessible.”
Stories like this sit at the heart of our work, showing how targeted support can translate into meaningful, real-world impact.
The Foundation’s work is guided by four core pillars: Youth, Women and Girls’ Leadership, Inclusion and Community. These pillars reflect where sport can make the greatest difference, shaping how we invest, who we support and the outcomes we work towards across the Commonwealth.
They come to life through a focused set of proven programmes, including GAPS, Women Leaders, eqUIP and Game Changers, alongside cross-cutting work on sustainability and the King’s Baton Relay. Together, these programmes turn shared priorities into practical, people-led action, supporting communities to build confidence, capability and long-term change through sport.
Since being established in 2020, inspired by the legacy of Glasgow 2014, the Foundation has raised over £5 million to support programmes across all 74 Commonwealth nations and territories. Our work combines global reach with locally led delivery, ensuring support reaches those who are too often left out and that impact continues well beyond major events.
